Proship culture is being sick and tired of antis watering down the meanings of important words. It’s absolutely infuriating to see words like racist, Nazi, pedophile, and other words being misused and stripped of their true significance..

Watering down the meanings of such terms is incredibly dangerous. It diminishes their impact, causes confusion, and distracts from addressing real harm. Misusing serious words devalues genuine issues, making it harder to identify and confront actual problems.

No, antis, simping over a fictional teen character is not pedophilia. Pedophilia refers to an attraction to prepubescent children. That's just a person attracted to a drawing.

No, antis, a person giving their cat a platonic kiss is not a zoophile. Zoophilia is the attraction to animals. That's just a person who loves their cat.

No, antis, someone shipping a fictional lesbian with a fictional gay man is not homophobic. Homophobia means hatred or prejudice against gay people.

These words carry weight for a reason, and by misusing them, you strip them of their power to address real issues. I’m not saying antis deserve harassment, and I’m not denying the existence of actual racists, Nazis, or predators. What I am saying is that this habit of mislabeling does more harm than good. It makes it impossible to take these terms seriously when they’re constantly being misapplied. Stop watering them down. it helps no one. when i was in the ben 10 fandom, people often called me a bad person because they didnt enjoy i was a homosexual, and my art would be hyper scrutinized on the basis of that and deemed morally wrong because a character stood a certain way or I explored a certain relationship that happened to be homosexual or transsexual and it was constant. funny how this queer safe space is the same thing lol. i think yall need to realize who youre constantly pointing fingers at, because at a certain point the mere existence of sex seems to disturb you more than anything that's actually morally wrong. consentual sex that happens to depict a character crying, an exploration of trauma based in sex, a piece of trash on a page..... Am I getting off to this? Or am I simply speaking about it?

Eddie Gluskin Headcanons because I cannot stop thinking about him and im bored

Happy holidays, I usually just am not happy during this time of year so I’m pushing down my emotions and writing angst. Enjoy. Tw: Self harm, CSA, rape, misogyny, violence, typical outlast stuff.

-Eddie hates bathing and has to be physically restrained if the doctors wish to get him clean. This is mainly due to his CSA, as Eddie was attacked a lot while he was in the shower-but it is also due to him feeling uncomfortable with being nude for long periods of time.

-Eddie hates dogs. His family had a dog that was specifically trained to bite him if he commanded it to. Eddie doesn’t own any pets, really, and believes that cats are too “feminine” for him.

-During his initial murder spree, Eddie killed around 34 people-men and women, who he all gave the definition of “bride” to. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity, and was sent to Mount Massive Asylum. For a time, he actually had a proper psychologist before he was eventually signed up for the Walrider program after he attacked the wrong guard.

-Eddie has diagnosed Schizophrenia, BPD, psychosis, and could possibly qualify for a DID diagnosis.

-Eddie could possibly qualify for DID because he has a few seperate personality states: a younger version of himself, trapped within his childhood, “The Groom,” the dominant personality states, and a version of himself that is haunted by his trauma, and rather prefers to be alone. Though it is unclear if this is DID or just due to his BPD (he does dissociate from reality quite often, though).

-Eddie’s favorite movie growing up was Sleeping Beauty, and often quotes it to the best of his memory. He believes that Prince Phillip is the perfect depiction of a devoted husband, and Aurora is the most beautiful woman in the world.

-Sketching and tailoring are his favorite hobbies. He most often draws women in goregous dresses, and has a very traditional Disney-like style to his artwork.

-Eddie believes that it is the 1950s and is incapable of perceiving the current year as it is. He writes things like computers, camcorders, and cellphones off as “advanced space-age technology.” Don’t ever ask him to operate a computer because he would have absolutely no idea how to do it.

-If Eddie could comprehend the concept of a trans person, he would for sure be a supporter-due to his psychosis and delusions, however, he couldn’t comprehend it even if he tried. He can’t even comprehend that he may be gay.

-Eddie may have targeted women before the asylum, but once he was incarcerated, he practically exclusively targeted men-even when there was a female presence in the asylum, he didn’t attack them nearly as much as he did the men.

-Eddie is actually a pretty damn good chef. He has to be, considering his only qualification for a good “wife” is that “she” has to be alive and breathing. (Even then…)

-Eddie has a love for salted caramels.

-Eddie has a hard time keeping his anger in check, and rarely keeps his hands to himself. He was transferred to an isolation cell after he groped a guard, and he was never really allowed out of maximum security afterwards. This, plus other forms of inhumane treatment at the hands of Murkoff, eventually led to his mental health getting worse and his transfer to the Walrider program once it was deemed that he was “too far gone.”

-Eddie may be a charasmatic, boisterous man but deep down, he is suffering from crippling lonliness and deep seated insecurities that will likely never fully go away.

-Eddie did self harm before he was transferred to Mount Massive.

-Eddie’s best friend in the asylum is Frank Manera canonically, but he does have a rather good relationship with many of the Variants, including The Twins and Chris Walker. He and Frank used to have cells right next to one another, and communicated through a hole in the wall.

I'm fascinated by this, because my experience as a trans man is completely different to this and I know why that is. I'm transitioning from Female to Male but as I'm doing so I'm also hanging out mostly in queer spaces, not modifying my voice or posture to come off as masculine, being sexually active with other men almost exclusively, and presenting myself with colored scene hair, very tight skinny jeans, mesh shirts, things of that nature. And I've noticed women have started treating me differently than they used to, and so have men, but not in the way described in this post.

I'm read as a man in almost every situation in my day to day life. I've gotten to the point where other trans people don't even think I'm trans. I also am the kind of guy who can somehow find himself in a situation where he gets called a faggot on the downtown streets of a supposedly progressive city without ever opening his mouth. Even though I come off cis passing LGBT+ people immediately know I'm one of them without me having to even say anything.

Because of this I get treated in a very interesting way by most straight women my own age. If they see another man they will adopt this sort of stand offish posture described in this post with them. With me they've already decided we're best friends. They love me. They like to do this thing where they complain about men in front of me and then apologize while not really being sorry and then they get really excited when I go "yeah, fuck men". It does occasionally make me feel like I'm some sort of dog that they want to pet but it's usually pretty fun.

Straight men on the other hand do one of three things. If they're progressive they will do their level best to treat me like one of the guys and politely shut their mouths when I say gay stuff, if they're you're average straight man they will keep me at arms length in a way where I can tell they're experiencing the emotions they make women feel on a daily basis but are unsure how to handle it (I do not sexually approach them but my presence and the correct assumption they've made that I'm into other men based on how I look stand and speak is enough for them to make the "is he going to hit on me" calculation), and if they're open active homophobes, I have to make sure I know where the exits are.

I bring this up because I'm fascinated by how much flamboyant gay men are treated like a secret third thing by women. It's obvious why. I'm a male they know won't hit on them. But it's crazy how much I tripped ass backwards into avoiding the male loneliness problem by being a massive queen. It's crazy most straight women in their 20s and 30s (in my reliably blue state granted) are enthusiastic hags

Still bothered by the US cultural idea that men can only be non-romantically intimate with one another in war-like or competitive circumstances.

It becomes increasingly obvious that fandom has not moved on from its “Arthur was just using Gwen for her womb” phase…

If Arthur wanted a marriage of convenience, then he would have gotten with Elena or Mithian. But Arthur was canonically in love with Gwen, and Gwen with Arthur. Therefore, we acknowledge that Gwen and Arthur are — by all authorial intent (and common sense) — in love. This means the writers wrote this in, explicitly, only for certain fans to ignore it.

Not a case of “the writers secretly wrote Arthur and Gwen as NOT in love!” but “fans dismiss the relationship because they shipped merthur first and feel threatened by Arthur having a CANON ‘hetero’ love interest, or don’t find it realistic that he could love a girl like her.”

Hence the usual tired, vague “they just don’t have chemistry” excuse. The fact that OP states that Gwen has chemistry with no one portrays this better than anything I can say. Yes, of course the only black woman character just doesn’t have romantic chemistry with anyone — not Merlin, not Lancelot, not her actual canon husband Arthur, not even Morgana. But all of the white boy characters are just so lovable, so it only makes sense that everyone else should love them, too! (The subtext being that it doesn’t make sense for Gwen to be a romantic interest because… ahem, reasons). So merthur just magically feels more realistic/makes more sense than what they wanted us to see with Gwen’s relationships! Nevermind the blatant contradiction between “the writers WANTED us to believe in Arthur/Gwen but we didn’t!” and “the writers were deliberately writing them weakly!” Pick 1 story if you wanna play victim.

The fan theory that the (often homophobic! they started filming in 2007 for god’s sake) writers were secretly trying to diminish this leading romantic plotline by creating a “romantic tension” between Arthur and [checks notes] MERLIN?!?!?, the servant he neglects, is nothing short of tinhatting. At most, the writers make a few jokes in the audio commentaries poking fun at people who interpreted it in that way, making fun of us gays plenty along the way, only to firmly restate their platonic intent.

By and by, you’re allowed to enjoy fanon material, but to simply lie about the canon circumstances in order to make as if these ideas hold more water than canon, which we can all fact check with a rewatch or a transcript… Well, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around! What is the point, exactly, when it’s not true?

Simply speaking, omegaverse fanfiction is not canon. It’s easy for people to dismiss the influence that Gwen is capable of having, on Arthur and on the story as a whole, but that does not mean that this influence does not exist. If these were genuine observations/concerns, fans would not be demanding that Gwen be erased from her own narrative, but rather that she be allowed to take up more space in it! Fans would demand that we have more scenes of her and Arthur, that we see more of their build-up and bonding. Instead, she’s met with full dismissal. The fact that Gwen does not receive as much screentime as her white boy counterparts, despite also being one of the core four, also speaks to a bias (one of many) in the writers’ room. The failure of fans as a whole to demand more respect and attention for the woman characters, especially Gwen as the solo black lead, is a failure of the same kind.

You started with a good premise but now I think you’re actually insane. Merlin and Arthur had tension from day one. I was a child and I knew they were gay for one another. Gwen didn’t have chemistry with anyone - least of all Merlin. Merlin wasn’t interested in Gwen at all. Season 1 read as when the girl falls for the gay boy cuz he’s so nice and sweet. The actors shipped Merthur. The writers shipped Merthur and they wanted the fandom to ship Merthur. The only reason they probably didn’t explicitly put it in the show was because of the time we were in. The writers and fandom have always been gay af. Because right next to Merthur is Morgwen and after that, Gwen/Lancelot. This is not at all an example of what you’re talking about. Also, TikTok? Did you just start watching the show? Watch it again please. And then watch it another time. Like we were reading/writing Merthur fanfic in 2008. I was on mf livejournal reading A/B/O dynamics Merthur fanfics. Hello??!!! Like maybe it’s because I’ve been in this fandom for over a decade - Merthur was my first fandom - but I’m literally so affronted and flabbergasted. How do you even-
